Regenerative Medicine: Unraveling the differences between PRP, Stem Cells & Exosome Therapies

PRP, Wharton's Jelly Stem Cell and Exosome Regenerative Medicine Therapies

Harness Your Body’s Innate Power to Heal Itself and Rejuvenate Your Mind and Body.

The 21st Century welcomes in a NEW era in medicine.  In contrast to traditional medicine which only treats symptoms, Regenerative Medicine therapies prevents and cure diseases. As a result of activating your own body's healing ability, Regenerative Medicine repairs, regenerates and restores the body to a younger, healthier state.

Regenerative Medicine therapy has a wide application in medicine such as preventing and reversing chronic diseases associated with aging such as arthritis, erectile dysfunction,  and possibly memory loss and Alzheimer's.  In addition, these treatments  can  accelerate healing from acute injuries such as broken bones, sports injuries, ligament injuries.   Also,  regenerative therapies may help with organ failure,  COPD, as well as facial rejuvenation and male pattern hair loss.   The science of regenerative medicine is in its infancy, but hold great potential to activate our body to heal itself.

What is Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP)?

Although  PRP, a Regenerative Medicine therapy,  is often confused as a "stem cell therapy," it is not.   PRP is platelet rich plasma derived from your own blood.   First one or two tubes of your blood are drawn in to special collection tubes. Then, the blood is processed in a PRP centrifuge.  Lastly, the red cells are removed leaving the plasma rich in platelets and about 8-12 growth factors is concentrated.   PRP has many applications in regenerative medicine from anti-aging cosmetic facial rejuvenation, knee and joint arthritis, joint pain, and sports injuries.  In addition PRP is used for erectile dysfunction as the Priapus Shot®, Peyronie's, and increase Penis size as well as vaginal rejuvenation to intensify orgasms.     Even though PRP is a regenerative medicine procedure that activates your body's healing potential, it is not a stem cell therapy.

What are the different types of stem cell therapies?

Stem Cell Can become many types of cells in the body - Stem Cell treatments Palm Beach Boca RatonStem cells are master cells and they have the potential to replicate and grow into various tissues found in the body. When we are born we have about 7.5 billion live stem cells which helps the body repair and renew.  But as we age, both the number and replicating ability dramatically decrease.  In fact, by the time we reach our 20's we have only about 40% of our stem cells remaining.  And most significantly, by the time we are middle age, less than 5-10% remain. As a result, chronic degenerative disease of aging, such as arthritis, heart, lung and kidney disease, diabetes take over the body.    Restoring the body's innate healing capacity may be the key to turning back the clock and allow you to enjoy a happy, active, healthy life well into your 90's and more.

Since our stem cells rapidly decline both in number and activity with aging, using stem cells derived from your bone marrow or fat is minimally beneficial.  By the time when you are 60 you less than 5% of your stem cells remain. Not only are there very few stem cells to collect, but also, the remaining stem cells have lost much of their potency.  In addition, the collection process is invasive and carries high risk.

Therefore,  we at Simply Men's Health REJUVAnation Medical Center use potent stem cells derived from placental and umbilical Wharton's Jelly tissue.

What are the advantages of using placental and umbilical Wharton's Jelly derived stem cells?

At Simply Men's Health REJUVAnation Medical Center we use umbilical Wharton's Jelly derived stem cells.   Because in addition to being rich in highly-active stem cells with a high potential to differentiate, Wharton's Jelly is also rich in 100's of growth factors, cytokines, nucleic acids and hyaluronic acid as well as exosomes.    Furthermore, these stems cells are harvested from donated afterbirth of carefully -screened, healthy mothers who had elective c-sections.  Thus, there are no ethical issues   Lastly, these tissues are immune-privileged so you do not have to worry about rejection issues.

What are Exosomes?

Stem Cell Exosomes Regenerative Medicine Therapy
Stem cells are drawn to injured tissues in the body and stimulate the body's healing ability by releasing little vesicles called  Exosomes packed with billions of proteins, cytokines, anti-inflammatory factors and growth factors.   Due to the release of these exosome vesicles from the stem cells, your body's innate healing capacity is stimulated to repair and regenerate damaged tissues.   These exosome vesicles are  30-150nm and 30-150nm. Specifically, Exosomes are the way stem cells transport their healing essence to the diseased and damaged area in your body.   Exosomes are highly concentrated solutions of these stem cell vesicles containing from 15 to 75 billion vesicles.

Also, an added benefit of exosomes is that, unlike stem cells,  they can easily cross the blood-brain barrier. Therefore, Exosomes also show promise in treating neurological conditions and possibly even memory decline and Alzheimer's.

So how do you choose between PRP, Stem Cells or Exosomes?

There is much confusion between these forms of Regenerative Medicine therapies.   To simplify, PRP is like the most basic entry level regenerative medicine therapy.   PRP does not contain stem cells and is not a stem cell therapy, But PRP contains a cellular matrix rich in platelets which release a number of growth and healing factors and cytokines.  In addition these activated platelets release factors which activate your own body's healing capacity and draw stem cells to the area.   We often use PRP Priapus Shot® to enhance the healing capacity of our RejuvaWAVE® treatments for erectile dysfunction and Peyronie's.  But as we said, this is the most basic therapy.

Along with PRP we often combine this with  placental umbilical derived Wharton's Jelly Stem Cells, the RejuvaEnhancement™ Procedure.     As one patient describes the basic PRP Priapus Shot
® as we turned him into Superman.  In comparison, when he tried the RejuvaEnhancement™ Procedure with PRP and Stem cells, he exclaimed, "Now I'm God...."   We always inject the PRP first and then the stem cells, rather than just stem cells as the PRP rich in platelets forms a matrix to keep the Wharton's Jelly stem cells in the location needed for a longer period of time to activate the body's healing capacity.

Next, the newest advances in Regenerative Medicine are the concentrated Exosome vesicles.   All Wharton's Jelly products are rich in growth and healing factors as well and contain millions of live stem cells.  In addition, since stem cells release their healing messages to tissues via exosomes, these solutions also contain exosomes.  So what are the advantages of Exosomes.   Specifically, the Exosomes are highly concentrated  solutions of just these healing factors packed vesicles released from stem cells  containing from 15 billion to 75 billion vesicles.   Often patients question why they cannot just choose Exosomes vs combining them with PRP and  Wharton's Jelly products.     The answer is rather simple.   The only time we give pure Exosomes is when giving system IV infusions or when want to treat a brain condition since Exosomes are minute enough to cross the blood-brain barrier  In addition, when giving an IV infusion you want the solution to be acellular.

When injecting into a joint, or Penis or hair loss or facial rejuvenation we always use a combination because each component serves a purpose.   The PRP is the only product rich in platelets and these platelets release specific factors which activates our body's healing and attracts our own body's stem cells and healing factors to the areas of disease of injury.   Also, it forms a matrix to hold the stem cell and Exosome solutions in the affected area.   In contrast to the PRP 8-10 growth factors, the Wharton's Jelly umbilical product contains 100's of growth and healing factors, hyaluronic acid and live stem cells.  Although rich in growth factors and stem cells, Wharton's Jelly umbilical stem cells do not contain the platelet rich component of PRP. Next, addition you can add is the Exosomes.  Exosomes are high concentrated acellular vesicles of growth and healing factors released from stem cells.  Although Wharton's Jelly product with millions of live stem cells contains Exosomes, the Exosome product contains 15 to 75 billion Exosome vesicles.  But, unlike the  Wharton's Jelly umbilical product, it does not contain any live stem cells, nor does it contain the hyaluronic acid.

Therefore, we use like a step up product.  If a patient insists on just getting Exosomes, they are losing out on the added benefits of the live cells and components present in the PRP and Wharton's Jelly umbilical product.  Based on our extensive experience, patients experience the most benefit from Exosomes when combines with PRP and Wharton's Jelly.

What are the different kinds of Regenerative Medicine Therapies?

The science of Regenerative Medicine is rapidly advancing.   Currently the most popular Regenerative Medicine therapies are  Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Stem cell therapies and Exosomes.  In contrast to the band-aid treating symptoms approach of traditional medicine, Regenerative Medicine harnesses  the body's healing powers to repair, regenerate and renew!

Anti-aging stem cell treatments and IV infusions for system disease

IV Exosome therapy can be used for general rejuvenation to help maintain youthful energy and vigor.  In addition, since these regenerative  vesicles are drawn to areas of disease and injured tissues, IV administration can possible help with system diseases such as diabetes,  autoimmune conditions, Lupus, arthritis as well as organ failure such as kidney, heart, lung and COPD.  An added benefit is that Exosomes are acellular and can pass through the blood brain barrier and can possibly help with neurological conditions, as well as memory loss and Alzheimer's.

Arthritis, Knee and Joint Pain

PRP, stem cells (especially Wharton's Jelly rich in hyaluronic acid as well as stem cells) and exosomes have great potential in alleviating joint pain.  Even if bone-on-bone, regenerative medicine therapies have a potential to help.  Therefore, before you undergo surgical joint replacement, one should try  stem cell therapies.  Imaging  walking, running and playing golf again without pain.   PRP, using your own blood has minimal potential to help.  Often, patients are reluctant to try Stem Cell  therapy thinking that they have already had PRP with minimal effect.   As explained above, PRP contains 8-10 growth factors and no stem cells.  In contrast, umbilical Wharton's Jelly product contains not only millions of live mesenchymal stem cells, but also rich in 100's of growth factors as well as hyaluronic acid.

Sport Injuries

Just like professional athletes who seem to recover overnight from injuries, you too can recover from a sports injury or a broken bone in weeks rather than months.  Whether you have a torn ligament, tendon, muscle tear or even a broken bone, regenerative medicine therapy can accelerate your body's healing capacity.

Men's sexual vitality treatment, Peyronie's Disease treatment and male enhancement.

Men accept a decline in the bedroom as a natural consequence of aging,   But with regenerative medicine treatments including RejuvaWAVE®, PRP and stem cell treatments, Erectile Dysfunction associated with aging, may become a thing of the past.   In addition to turning back the clock and giving you an active spontaneous sex life again,  these treatments can also increase penis size.   Also, regenerative medicine treatments can cure Peyronie's Disease without surgery or painful, invasive procedures.

Anti-aging facial rejuvenation

As a result of decreased collagen and loss of elasticity wrinkles develop with age.    A combination of PRP, stem cell and Exosomes can turn back the clock.    Fillers and botox are just temporary fixes.  In contrast, PRP and stem cell facial rejuvenation restores a more youthful appearance.

Non Surgical Hair Restoration

Male pattern hair loss is a genetic predisposition for baldness due to follicle sensitivity to DHT. Some men experience hair loss as young as late teens to early 20's.   Male pattern hair loss is progressive and relentless.  Even hair transplant grafts can be affected.   DHT sensitive follicles initially miniaturize producing thinner hair until the follicle dies.  Once the follicle is dead, transplant is your only option.  But miniaturized follicles can be restored and further miniaturization and follicle death can be prevented with advanced regenerative medicine therapies including PRP, stem cells and Exosomes.
